Grade 9 de-streamed math help (MTH1W)
Since 2021, every Ontario Grade 9 student takes the same math course. It moves quickly from number sense into algebra and linear relations, and ends with the EQAO assessment.
What MTH1W covers
- Number: rational numbers, powers, square roots and exponent rules
- Algebra: simplifying expressions and solving linear equations
- Linear and non-linear relations: slope, intercepts, tables and graphs
- Data: scatter plots, lines of best fit and summary statistics
- Geometry and measurement: area, surface area, volume, the Pythagorean relationship
- Financial literacy: budgets, interest and comparing options
