British Columbia Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA)
Free BC FSA practice questions for Grade 4 and Grade 7 literacy and numeracy.
British Columbia students in Grade 4 and Grade 7 write the Foundation Skills Assessment in literacy and numeracy. It is done online at school and asks students to read, write and solve problems in everyday contexts.
The FSA is not a graduation requirement and students do not receive a mark: each result is placed on a proficiency standard, and schools use it to decide where to help. The writing task is the part families most often want to prepare for, because it asks for a planned, organized answer.
Literacy — reading
Short texts with questions on meaning, details, inference and vocabulary in context.
Literacy — writing
A planned written response: organize ideas, support them, then edit sentences for clarity.
Numeracy
Number operations, measurement, patterns, data and spatial reasoning in everyday situations.
- Grade 4 and Grade 7 Math and English chapters built from the BC curriculum
- Writing practice you can plan and revise with coaching
- Hints and worked explanations for every question
- A parent portal showing mastery and weak spots
