CAASPP / Smarter Balanced Test Grade 11
Free CAASPP practice questions for California mathematics and English language arts.
California students in Grades 3–8 and Grade 11 take the Smarter Balanced tests each spring.
California students in Grades 3–8 and Grade 11 take the Smarter Balanced tests in mathematics and English language arts as part of CAASPP. The tests are adaptive: the difficulty of later questions depends on earlier answers, so no two students see exactly the same set.
Results come back as a performance level from Level 1 to Level 4, with scores for claims such as concepts and procedures, problem solving, communicating reasoning, and data analysis. Because the test is adaptive and timed, steady accuracy on short questions — and writing a clear explanation — is the most direct preparation.
Mathematics
Concepts and procedures, problem solving, communicating reasoning, and data analysis, including multi-select and drag-and-drop items.
English Language Arts
Reading information and literature, research and inference, and writing. The listening items are not simulated here.
Performance tasks
A longer in-text task that asks for a planned written response supported by evidence.
