Ohio State Tests (OST) — Math and English Language Arts

Free Ohio State Test practice questions for mathematics and English language arts.

What is on the test?

Ohio's state tests in mathematics and English language arts are taken in Grades 3–8, and end-of-course tests in Algebra I, Geometry and English II are taken when a student completes those courses. The tests follow Ohio's Learning Standards and are taken on a device.

Each test runs in two or three sessions on different days, mixing multiple choice with short constructed responses. In ELA, students read passages and answer questions that require evidence; in math, multi-step problems and explanation items carry weight, so practising writing the reasoning is worthwhile.

Mathematics (Grades 3–8)

Ratio and proportional relationships, the number system, expressions and equations, geometry and statistics.

English language arts (Grades 3–8)

Reading literature and information texts with evidence, vocabulary, and writing and editing.
