PSAT (Preliminary SAT)
A real preview of the SAT, years before test day.
The PSAT is the College Board's younger sibling of the SAT: a screen-based test that shows where a student stands years before the real thing. It is adaptive — the second module of each section gets harder or easier depending on how the first went — and it is reported on the same scale as the SAT.
Only the PSAT taken in Grade 11 (the PSAT/NMSQT) counts toward National Merit recognition, but an earlier attempt is a genuine preview, not a toy version.
